The Faces of War, a powerful story, explores the consequences of choices, is set at the height of World War ll. It showcases the explosive effect of war on the people both on the front lines and those at home. A single choice sets the path for John Conway, an American soldier, and Karl Baum, a young German citizen…that drastically alters their future. Characters enrich the story with remarkable sacrifice and unfaltering resolve. A spellbinding story of survival, resilience, and unadulterated love. This historical novel will be available this fall. “McCarthy has fashioned a story etched from the power of the human spirit and the darkness of the human soul and is the best war novel in recent history. Not to be missed.” Jon Land, bestselling author USA today.

Doing research, I read about the plight of German POWs who were sent to camps in the US. The main characters of my book, John Conway, an American soldier and Karl Baum, a young German are fictional as is their story
